Grand Designs Live London describes itself as the no. 1 consumer show exhibition for self build, design, interiors and innovation, and it did not disappoint. Getting there was simple as the DLR station, Custom House is adjoining the Excel Exhibition Centre, and very easy to find. The venue was easy to navigate & there were plenty of places to eat & drink, although at a premium.
I am an avid fan of Grand Designs TV show so much that I have set a reminder for the show on More4. That said I would watch any property show, there is no loyalty. Mine was a free ticket obtained via Timeout offers, and to my delight I was also given the Grand Designs Magazine.
Being a fan of iconic and classical styles my favourite distributor was Monaco Interiors. The display was a retro bathroom with very ostentatious walls and a brass free-standing bath. Inspired by the Island of Atlantis , the bathroom is rather captivating and intriguing. The complementing textures of the walls bring an eerie yet luxurious charm to this enchanting space. This is what the Istylist dream is made of.
Below are pictures from other distributors, I liked these very much. Take note of the classic retro theme in almost every shot.
I was also impressed by the luxurious garden huts, reminiscent of a tropical island.
We allowed two hours to walk through but this was definitely not enough. I am already looking forward to Grand Designs Live 2017. See more highlights below.
